Advent for Families: For four weeks beginning Wednesday November 30th, families are invited to explore the season of advent together. Each session will begin at 6:30 pm and include a family devotion, crafts, and games. If you are unable to join us, please speak with Ericka Rankin to get materials to use at home during Advent.
Advent Bible Study: The early chapters of the Gospel of Luke include canticles, biblical songs, leading up to, and celebrating, the birth of Christ. We’ll explore the songs of Zechariah, Mary, and the Angels on Wednesdays in three sessions during Advent—November 30th and December 7th & 14th, 11:00 am and 6:30 pm.
Volunteers are needed for The Greening of the Cathedral. Trees, wreaths, and more will go up to bring the Christmas spirit to various places throughout the church. We are looking for 5-6 individuals. The Service of Lessons and Carols is Sunday, December 11th, 10:30 am. The service with nine scripture readings, choral anthems, and hymns celebrates the advent and birth of Christ and is based on the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols made famous by recordings and broadcasts from Kings College, Cambridge.
The Rite I Holy Eucharist will be held at its usual 8:30 am time that morning.
Worship Services at Christmas include two services on Christmas Eve, 4:00 pm and 10:30 pm. Christmas Day is a Sunday and there will be one service that morning at 10:30.
As a part of this month’s commemoration of All Saints and All Souls, The Grand Forks Chorale is holding a concert at the cathedral, Sunday, November 13, 4:30 pm. “They Are At Rest” will feature music such as Tarik O’Regan’s ‘Triptych,’ JS Bach’s ‘Komm, Jesu, komm,’ and Pablo Casal’s ‘O Vos Omnes,’ to offer peace and healing through spirituality and music.
August 29th marked the 150th Anniversary of the first Episcopal worship service in Dakota Territory. To mark this sesquicentennial celebration, the Most Revd Michael Curry, Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church will be at the diocesan convention in Fargo October 21 & 22. Bishop Curry will also be at two events at Gethsemane Cathedral that weekend:
- Saturday, Oct 22, 4:30 pm, Choral Evensong with a sermon by Bp Curry and reception to follow;
- Sunday, Oct 23, 10:00 am, Holy Eucharist (one service only that day) with Bp Curry preaching and a luncheon to follow.
Both events are open to the public so please do spread the word and invite friends and neighbors. Please RSVP by contacting the church office!

Midweek Holy Eucharist, Wednesdays at 12:15 in the Chapel of the Resurrection, is a simple service—Rite I, spoken, about half an hour long—and offers an opportunity to worship for people who have been away on weekends and others who would like to join in a simple worship service on a weekday. This service includes the option of prayers for healing and anointing.
September 12th is the beginning of our Faith Formation on Sunday mornings. Classes meet between services from 9:30am -10:15am. Sunday school is available for kids Pre K through 5th grade. Confirmation is for kids in grades 6-8. Please pick up a registration form on the welcome desk at the church or contact the office to have one emailed to you.
